Beaumont, TX, January 12, 2011: Addie D. Allen, lifelong Democrat and local resident, has filed her candidacy in the race for United States Senate for the upcoming May 29th, 2012 Texas Democratic Party Primary Election.
Allen was born in Orange, Texas, the daughter of Annie Allen and the late Daniel J. Allen. Allen currently resides in Beaumont, Texas. She is a graduate of Lutcher Stark High School in Orange, Texas and Lamar University in Beaumont, Texas. Presently, Allen is employed with the Department of Homeland Security as a Disaster Assistance employee.
In addition, Allen has held the following positions of employment: City of Beaumont as a Texas Insurance Analyst, a Benefits Coordinator (Human Resources), and a Personnel Analyst; Gulf Copper Manufacturing as a Human Resources Director; Tenet HealthSystem, Inc. as a Senior Benefits Analyst; The Associates as a Benefits Administrator; the U.S. Dept. of Occupational Health and Safety as a Safety and Health Specialist; and positions in the banking industry including the former First National Bank and MBNA Marketing Systems.
Allen is a life member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc., a member of the Association of University Women, , Board Member of Meals on Wheels, Life member of NAACP, a member of the National Association of Beauty Culturist League, a member of the Texas State Beauty Culturist League #47, and a member of Theta Nu Sigma National Sorority, Pi Chapter.
Most important, Allen is a strong Christian woman who uses her passion to be a voice for those individuals whose voices have become muted due to our current political system that operates under the heavy corruptible influence of money in politics.
